Founded in 1992 by mystery author Janice Steinberg, Sisters in Crime – San Diego Chapter is dedicated to promoting equality in crime writing. Membership is open to all women and men who share this goal. We are a not-for-profit organization.
The mission of Sisters in Crime is to promote the professional development and advancement of women crime writers to achieve equality in the industry.
The benefits of Sisters in Crime membership include:
- Monthly meetings with speakers including forensic experts, homicide detectives, Hollywood screenwriters, and other crime and mystery savants.
- Modus Operandi- Our lively monthly newsletter with info on writing, internet, author signings, contests, conferences and the publishing biz.
- Network with other writers of crime fiction.
- Speakers for your organization, library, bookstore, book group or event
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month, 7 p.m., at the Joyce Beers Community Center on Vermont, 1-1/2 blocks north of University Avenue in Hillcrest. Admission for non-members is FREE. Men are welcome as both members and guests.
